1 in 4 middle and high school young women in Cullman County live in poverty making it difficult to acquire simple necessities like feminine hygiene products, pads, tampons, panty liners, new underwear in case of accidents, body and face wash, deodorant and other items that most of us would deem essential.
The rate of young girls experiencing their periods without proper preparation or education is on the rise. The reaction to this is hyper embarrassment and many young women across the nation miss up to 20% of the school year due to not having essential products during their periods.
